Security Notice: Overnight Vehicle and Garage Break-Ins
Thieves have been reported roaming the neighborhood after 2:00 a.m., checking for unlocked car doors and opening garage doors using remotes left inside unlocked vehicles.
- Garage parking: Park vehicles inside the garage whenever possible instead of the driveway or street.
- Lock up: Lock all car doors and house doors every night, including the door between the garage and the home.
- Keep clickers inside: Do not leave garage door remotes or key fobs inside your vehicle. Keep them inside the house.
- Exterior lighting: Keep outdoor lights on overnight to make your property less appealing to anyone casing the neighborhood.
- Motion cameras: Consider a motion-activated camera or alarm that sounds an audible alert when movement is detected outside.
- Valuables out of sight: Remove or hide purses, electronics, and garage door openers from vehicle seats and consoles.
- Neighborhood watch: Get to know your neighbors and share license plate photos of unfamiliar vehicles idling or circling late at night.

- Dangers: Keep children away from active fireworks and never relight a dud.
- Safety: Use fireworks in open areas, keep water nearby, and clean up hot debris after use.
- Damage: Be mindful of homes, cars, dry grass, and community property that can catch fire.
- Decibels: Loud fireworks can impact neighbors, babies, veterans, and those sensitive to noise.
- Dogs and Pets: Bring pets indoors early and use ID tags, as loud sounds can cause panic and escapes.
- Hours: Per Spartanburg County regulations, fireworks can continue up until 1 am Sunday morning, July 5th, 2026.
- Illegal types: M-80s, Cherry bombs, mini bottle rockets.
- Responsibility: Celebrate respectfully, pick up all debris, and report unsafe situations when needed.
